In addition to calling on photographers to send us photos of open spaces for this newspaper, we have also encouraged direct artistic encounters. The sound worlds of the solo artist RebelLog meet the animations of the artist collective egozen – and create a unique audiovisual (spatial) experience.
In a time when our milieu bubbles are getting thicker and thicker walls/skins, where do we still find space to meet, to match our utopias and dystopias? Here we meet in the sound of our voices. These create space, spread out, send out into the open. The voice is the main inspiration for RebelLog’s soundtrack – to multiply and echo, optimistic and hopeful. egozen takes these sounds, adds thematic essays and texts by MADE. and generates dreamlike visual motifs from them using a neural network or diffusion model. Thoughts, impulses and voices merge in a pervasive dance of slow interweaving, opening windows into altered modes of thought and perception. The result is an audio-visual impulse to reflect on our social coming together but also on the diverging entropy of all life.

egozen is an interdisciplinary collective that explores and implements practical projects in the fields of art, science and culture. The focus is on merging contemporary social challenges with current technical research and integrating their results as impulses into cultural discourses – exploring the strange in-between space of not-quite-human and not-quite-machine.
RebelLog is the alias of Gilda Rebello, a multidisciplinary artist – composer, singer, music producer and choreographer – originally from Rio de Janeiro and now living in Frankfurt. She creates music with voice and electronics/analogue synthesizers and also develops soundscapes for dance, theatre and film. She has been a member of the music project #AlienCafe (RoyalFlameMusic) and #TapeFive (ChinChinRecords), among others. As a dancer, she was a guest of the legendary #PinaBausch Dance Co.

The liberal performing arts have been and continue to be particularly affected by crisis situations. In order to support artists from this field, the Performing Arts Fund initiated and supported around 30 laboratories between May and August 2022, ranging from puppet and object theatre to music theatre, from dance to performance and drama to theatre in public spaces and contemporary circus. The film documents the artistic work and research of these (also digital) laboratories distributed throughout the Federal Republic in times of social transformation. The positions of Danny Banany, Mable Preach, Mieke Matzke, Simone Dede Ayivi, Stefan Kaegi, Susanne Schuster and others become visible on the big screen, and numerous curators and artistic directors of various production venues and festivals have their say. „DENNOCH! – Zur Lage der Freien Künste“ shows the polyphony of aesthetics, practices and places and combines them into a common language.
The film runs in a continuous loop. In German and English.

What if we could put Wiesbaden into an acoustic time capsule that preserves the sounds of the here and now, but also records the milestones for tomorrow? Which typical sounds absolutely have to go in and which do we hope will define the backdrop of the city in the future? In June and July 2023, as part of the Kunstsommer Wiesbaden, the performance group red park invited people in different parts of the city to playfully interrupt everyday life in order to help shape Wiesbaden’s score, to make it experienceable and audible; part of the results were broadcast to the public in parallel in a street podcast. As part of MADE.DATE, the boxclub will once again set up its sky-blue couch landscape on Kochbrunnenplatz to let us listen in on the entire Wiesbaden sound box. Wiesbaden, are you ready to rumble?

Anyone who is interested in discovering the many possibilities of analogue printing will be given an introduction to handicraft and artistic printing under the professional guidance of the Schuldruckzentrum Darmstadt e.V.. Newspaper and waste paper in various forms serve as raw material and artistic source material. Whether it’s about typesetting texts with old letters made of wood or metal or about the variety of different picture printing techniques: just drop by and try it out. The print workshop is open to all, admission is free!
7.000 SEEDLINGS – SCENES FOR TOMORROW
Scenographic-musical reading walk through the city centre – in cooperation with Performing for Future

The world as we know it will soon no longer exist. But what the future will look like remains uncertain despite numerous models, forecasts and scenarios. Inspired by Beuys‘ 7,000 Oaks, the Performing for Future network’s 7,000 Seedlings campaign calls on playwrights and writers from the fields of literature, music, poetry and science to create scenes for tomorrow. Utopian or dystopian, empowering or informative: how should we, how do we want to, how will we live? More than 60 seedlings with a maximum of 7,000 characters each have come together. MADE.DATE is participating in the nationwide campaign: actors and performers from Wiesbaden’s independent scene will present a selection of the climate seedlings in a relaxed walk format. Musicians and artists from the scenography workshop accompany the procession from WiCoPop via Valhalla in Exile to Theater im Palast in their freshly developed sustainable costumes.

Neben dem Aufruf an Fotograf:innen, uns Fotos über Freiräumen für diese Zeitung zu schicken, haben wir auch zur direkten künstlerischen Begegnung angestiftet. Die Klangwelten der Solo-Künstlerin RebelLog treffen auf die Animationen des Künstlerkollektivs egozen – und erzeugen eine einmalige audiovisuelle (Raum)erfahrung.
In einer Zeit, in der unsere Milieu-Blasen immer dickere Wände/Häute bekommen, wo finden wir noch Raum, uns zu begegnen, um unsere Utopien und Dystopien abzugleichen? Hier treffen wir uns im Klang unserer Stimmen. Diese schaffen sich Raum, breiten sich aus, senden ins Freie. Die Stimme bildet die Hauptinspiration für RebelLogs Soundtrack – um sich zu vervielfältigen und Echos zu erzeugen, optimistisch und hoffnungsvoll. egozen nimmt diese Sounds auf, fügt themenbezogene Essays und Texte von MADE. hinzu und generiert hieraus anhand eines neuronalen Netzes bzw. Diffusionsmodells traumartige visuelle Motive. Gedanken, Impulse und Stimmen verschmelzen in einem durchdringenden Tanz langsamer Verflechtung, öffnen Fenster in veränderte Denk- und Wahrnehmungsweisen. So entsteht ein audiovisueller Impuls zur Reflexion unseres gesellschaftlichen Zusammenkommens aber auch der auseinanderstrebenden Entropie allen Lebens.

egozen ist ein interdisziplinäres Kollektiv, das praktische Projekte in den Bereichen Kunst, Wissenschaft und Kultur erforscht und umsetzt. Der Fokus liegt darauf, zeitgenössische gesellschaftliche Herausforderungen mit aktueller technischer Forschung zu verschmelzen und deren Ergebnisse als Impulse in kulturelle Diskurse zu integrieren – und dabei den seltsamen Zwischenraum von Nicht-ganz-Mensch und Nicht-ganz-Maschine zu erkunden.
RebelLog ist der Aliasname von Gilda Rebello, einer multidisziplinären Künstlerin – Komponistin, Sängerin, Musikproduzentin und Choreografin –, ursprünglich aus Rio de Janeiro und jetzt in Frankfurt lebend. Sie kreiert Musik mit Stimme und Elektronik/analogen Synthesizern und entwickelt außerdem Soundscapes für Tanz, Theater und Film. Sie war u.a. Mitglied des Musikprojekts #AlienCafe (RoyalFlameMusic) und #TapeFive (ChinChinRecords). Als Tänzerin war sie Gast der legendären #PinaBausch Dance Co.

Die Freien Darstellenden Künste waren und sind von Krisensituationen in besonderer Form betroffen. Um Künstler:innen aus diesem Feld zu unterstützen, initiierte und förderte der Fonds Darstellende Künste zwischen Mai und August 2022 rund 30 Labore von Figuren- und Objekttheater bis Musiktheater, von Tanz über Performance und Schauspiel bis zu Theater im öffentlichen Raum und Zeitgenössischem Zirkus. Der Film dokumentiert das künstlerische Arbeiten und Forschen dieser über die Bundesrepublik verteilten (auch digitalen) Labore in Zeiten gesellschaftlicher Transformation. Auf großer Leinwand werden Positionen von Danny Banany, Mable Preach, Mieke Matzke, Simone Dede Ayivi, Stefan Kaegi, Susanne Schuster und anderen sichtbar, es kommen zahlreiche Kurator:innen und künstlerische Leitungen verschiedener Produktionsorte sowie Festivals zu Wort. »DENNOCH! – Zur Lage der Freien Künste« zeigt die Vielstimmigkeit der Ästhetiken, Praktiken und Orte und verbindet diese zu einer gemeinsamen Sprache.

Was wäre, wenn wir Wiesbaden in eine akustische Zeitkapsel packen könnten, die die Klänge des Hier und Jetzt bewahrt, aber auch die Meilensteine für das Morgen aufzeichnet? Welche typischen Geräusche müssen unbedingt hinein und von welchen hoffen wir, dass sie zukünftig die Kulisse der Stadt bestimmen werden? Im Juni und Juli 2023 lud die Performancegruppe red park im Rahmen des Kunstsommers Wiesbaden in unterschiedlichen Stadtteilen dazu ein, den Alltag spielerisch zu unterbrechen, um die Partitur Wiesbadens mitzugestalten, sie erleb- und hörbar zu machen; ein Teil der Ergebnisse wurde parallel in einem Straßenpodcast in die Öffentlichkeit gesendet. Im Rahmen des MADE.DATE stellt der boxclub nochmals seine himmelblaue Liegelandschaft auf dem Kochbrunnenplatz auf, um uns in die gesamte Wiesbadener Klangkiste hineinhören zu lassen. Wer Lust und Interesse hat, die vielen Möglichkeiten des analogen Druckens für sich zu entdecken, bekommt hier unter professioneller Anleitung des Schuldruckzentrums Darmstadt e.V. eine Einführung ins handwerklich-künstlerische Drucken. Zeitungs- und Altpapier in unterschiedlichsten Formen dient hierbei als Rohstoff und künstlerisches Ausgangsmaterial. Egal, ob es um das Setzen von Texten mit alten Lettern aus Holz oder Metall geht oder um die Vielfalt der verschiedenen Bilderdrucktechniken: einfach vorbeischauen und ausprobieren. Die Druckwerkstatt ist offen für alle, der Eintritt frei!

Die Welt, wie wir sie kennen, wird es so bald nicht mehr geben. Doch wie die Zukunft aussehen wird, bleibt trotz zahlreicher Modelle, Prognosen und Szenarien ungewiss. Inspiriert von Beuys’ 7.000 Eichen ruft die Aktion 7.000 Setzlinge des Netzwerks Performing for Future Dramatiker:innen und Schreibende aus Literatur, Musik, Poesie und Wissenschaft dazu auf, Szenen für Morgen zu entwerfen. Utopisch oder dystopisch, empowernd oder informativ: Wie sollen, wie wollen, wie werden wir leben? Über 60 Setzlinge mit je max. 7.000 Zeichen sind zusammengekommen. MADE.DATE beteiligt sich an der bundesweiten Aktion: Schauspieler: und Performer:innen der Wiesbadener Freien Szene präsentieren eine Auswahl der Klima-Setzlinge in einem lockeren Spaziergangsformat. Musiker:innen sowie Künstler:innen des Szenografie-Workshops begleiten den Umzug vom WiCoPop über das Walhalla im Exil zum Theater im Palast in ihren frisch entwickelten nachhaltigen Kostümen.
